Day 34: Wendover to Wells

A late start at 9:30 on the road today (but technically 8:30 once I was just up the road into Nevada!) The weather was cooler but very humid this morning due to the cloud cover. It wasn't until midday when the cloud disappeared and the sun burnt off the humidity.

There was a long climb out of Wendover, then long descent along the I-80. The entire day was a series of long climbs and descents, the highest of which was the 'Pequop' summit at 6967ft. In total I climbed 4039ft, though they were much more shallow climbs and it didn't feel like I'd done that much.

In the valley after descending from Pequop, I saw a few 'dust devils' floating through. Kinda eerie! Lets just hope they're the biggest bits of swirly wind I see over the next week or so!

At 1:40 I started the final descent into Wells and saw a storm rolling slowly in from the south. The forecast had predicted thunderstorms around 2 o'clock, so I didn't hang around. I made it to the Motel 6 at exactly 2pm and got checked in. The staff were extremely friendly and the rooms have amazingly colourful bed sheets!

I didn't fancy anything too big for dinner after my barrage of buffets over the last couple days, so after the storm had passed I went to a local diner called 'Bella's'. I had their 'World famous chicken fried steak' which was huge, but delicious!
